Diwali lanterns (Aakash deep)

Come Diwali, and there is a frenzy of so many preparations for the festival. New clothes, sweets and snacks, fire-crackers, house-painting, purchase of new consumer products and so on, but one thing which accurately marks the presence of Diwali is the Diwali lanterns or Aakash deep in every home. These colourful lamps come in a wide variety of styles and designs. This is the object which with-holds the spirit of Diwali, the festival of lights.

These fascinating lanterns dance in the doors and balconies of each house and happily announces that , Diwali is here.

The mystic elements

On a typical monsoon day as the heavy rain drops are lashing on the ground and the moderate wind creates a mild mist out of the rain drops. As the air chills and I am standing in some shed to save myself from the fierce rains, the mind suddenly floats to some unknown time and the rains try to remind of some similar event before. But when ? I can't recall. As the mind ploughs on the soil of thoughts and suddenly a thought rises-"This rain is striking on the earth, since time immemorial and I am watching it all the way.Is this an infinite relation?"
On a bright sunny day, as the fascinating breeze marks its presence and I am spell bound to the distant horizon, an unknown mild fragrance hypnotises the mind and that timeless relationship with the wind lingers in the thought.
The harder I try to imagine the past , the stronger are these experiences.
Can these elements of earth take me to the past ??????

Images ,Memory and Reality

Whatever is reality goes to our memory in the form of images.Similarly our imaginations are in the form of images and we try to fulfill the images in the real world. Thus the real and the imaginary world are in close co-ordination with each other.
Still how separated are the two worlds !!!! Each one oriented in a different direction all together. Most of the times we flatly declare that reality and imagination are different entities and an element in one plane has no recognition in the other.

Add to these the havoc of the memories. The people we stay with are constantly in our memories and affect our thoughts ,actions and desires and thus I would say that they are residing inside our memories. So these people even if cease to be around us , are always with us.So can we say that these people are staying in two worlds. One inside our memory and other in the real world. So on these lines we can say that along with the real world each person is living in the imaginary worlds of all those peoples he is acquainted with. So each of us lives in how many worlds ?
Further if a person is dead , he is still in the memories of all those he was acquainted with. His presence in their memories can affect their desires, thought and action.Considering this fact is it worthwhile to declare that the person is dead and his existence has ceased. There can be cases when the memories of the dead can be so strong in a living person that he responds exactly similar to the dead person.
So where is the distinction line between the real and the imaginary. The imaginary is a reflection of the real or vice-a-versa. Which is the primary and which is the secondary.May be we living in the so called real world are on the border line of the two worlds.
It seems that it would be a futile attempt to assign the tags of cause and effect to the two entities.
Still in our daily life , how strongly we guard the two forts of REAL and IMAGINARY ?

The longing

The scorching heat of the sun and the hot blazing winds of the Deccan pleateau.Even small steps in the late mornings dries up the lips and eyes and ears are flaring with heat. The lookout for a cool shade and a few gulps of cool water. This is the torture of the hot Indian summer.
In the coastal regions this torture is assisted by the humid climate and a pouring of litres of sweat.

Oh !!! rain God , just burst down on us and end our sufferings.Cool down everything, and refresh our minds with the odour of the mud.Let me drench in the trickles of first rains and pacify the flares within.

The monsoon begins ........

Nothing new about the beginning of the monsoons.
It begins every year. But every passing year the
fragrance brought by the first rain drops is never
repeated. The dark clouds play joyfully and the
cool breeze refreshes the mind with its monsoon

fragrance .

The raindrops cleanses the leaves and transforms

the whole panorama into lush green.

This is the season when raw mangoes are preserved as pickles

and the young ones are getting ready to start a new session at school.

Each passing monsoon fetches the old memories and leaves new ones to be fetched in the coming years.
